“Motivo” is the Italian word for motive or reason—the driving force behind every great idea. I founded Motevo Co to help innovators and business leaders bridge critical strategic gaps, refine their market positioning, and build scalable systems to execute with clarity and achieve lasting impact.

Carlos Almonte, Founder & CEO

With over 28 years of experience, I’ve helped high-growth startups, Fortune 50 companies, and mission-driven businesses clarify their brand positioning, optimize operations, and build scalable growth strategies. My expertise spans brand marketing, digital platforms, design systems, technical development, and management consulting—all with a focus on driving measurable impact.

Career Overview

Before launching Motevo Co, I served as Executive Director for Global Marketing at Techstars, leading marketing and engagement for accelerators, live events, community programs, and higher education partnerships. I also spearheaded two global change management initiatives to support Techstars’ program expansion strategy.

Prior to Techstars, I spent 13 years in executive roles at Publicis Sapient (now Razorfish) and R/GA, serving as a strategic partner for brands like Samsung Global, TE Connectivity, Johnson & Johnson, Avaya, Audible, and Walmart. I led cross-functional teams across brand strategy, digital transformation, and marketing innovation, including scaling a strategic client account to $50M+ in annual revenue.

Earlier in my career, I spent nine years in management consulting for a major pharmaceutical company, while also balancing a side career as a freelance pianist in NYC—until growing a family took priority!

Approach & Leadership

I thrive at the intersection of strategy, problem-solving, and execution. I’m adept at cutting through complexity, helping teams define clear problem statements, and translating insights into structured action plans. I believe in progress over perfection, structure without rigidity, and leadership grounded in inclusivity, empathy, and accountability.

As a strong communicator, I founded and led a Toastmasters chapter in NYC and have spoken at major industry events like Web Summit, fireside chats, and leadership conferences.

Beyond Work

I’m a proud husband and father of three. Outside of work, you’ll find me rock climbing, coaching basketball for my youngest, and playing chess. I still keep up with music through composition, collaborations, and the occasional gig.
